Kneipp was one of the founders of naturopathy, promoting hydrotherapy, herbalism, exercise, nutrition and spirituality. He claimed his hydrotherapy (short dips in icy water) cured his pulmonary tuberculosis. This may have been due to the stimulation of his immune system.
