Guangzhou's largest park; Yuexiu Gongyuan; is dominated by Zhenhai Lou (Tower Overlooking the Sea). The tower was built as a memorial to the seven great sea journeys undertaken between 1405 and 1433; by the eunuch Admiral Zheng He. Zheng travelled to east Africa; the Persian Gulf and Java.
