Bajrakli Mosque (Bajrakli dzamija) is the finest example of a classical provincial Ottoman mosque in the Balkans. As well; it is the oldest religious building in Belgrade. it was constructed 1660 to 1688 and wa situated in the centre of the Turkish part of downtown Belgrade; in Dorcol quarter. As the mosque could be seen quite well; it was used to fix the daily time by flagging. In second Habsburg reign; the minaret was destroyed; and the mosque became a Jesuit church. In the 1860s; no moslem attended the mosque; any more; the mosque closed. In 1893; the mosque was re-opened and is still open; today.
