Sample honeycomb cores of aerospace-grade aluminium and composite materials used in aircraft and spacecraft to save weight. The honeycomb structure forms the core of a panel formed by adding aluminium or composite face skins to either side; the resulting structure is strong but much lighter in weight than a solid panel.
