Graphic of Venus (black dots) transiting across the face of the Sun as seen from the Cassini spacecraft on 21st December 2012. The transit will take around 9 hours and 53 minutes with Venus moving from left to right. This will be the first time a transit of a planet has been observed from beyond Earth orbit. The Cassini-Huygens spacecraft was launched in 1997 to investigate Saturn, its rings and its moons.
