HOLOCAUST a crematorium in the Mauthausen camp. The main camp was opened on August 8; 1938; and was placed under the command of Franz Ziereis until liberation took place on 5 May 1945. Like other concentration camps; Mauthausen was used as a concentration camp to be implemented through forced labor and malnutrition for intellectuals; people and members of different social classes of the countries that Nazi Germany occupied during World War II.
