BLESSED GASPARE BUFFALO; ROMAN (1786-1837) canon of the Basilica of San Marco; founder of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood and the Institute of the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood. Prisoner by Napoleon for four years; after the fall of Napoleon he devoted himself to the evangelization of the working classes and the conversion of brigands. He was beatified by Pope St. Pius X December 18; 1904; and canonized by Pope Pius XII June 12; 1954.
