GLASGOW BY NIGHT. Once condemned by social workers and clergy as the after dark centre of operations for "pick-up" girls in the city, the central station, Glasgow's chief gateway to the south, today presents a bleak appearance after the last London train leaves at 10:30 PM. The main gates close early and only a side entrance serves a handful of bonafide travellers who have postpone departure to the last minute. With bookstores and refreshment rooms long since closed they stand in the bleak draughty entrance hall, instinctively grouping around "The Shell"--a memento of the 1914-18 war and through years of custom the city's best-known rendezvous.
