'Red Sandals' murder victim. This woman, aged between 25 and 30, believed by Portsmouth police to be Doris Gillander or Gallander, was found yesterday (Saturday) murdered on a bombed site at Little Charlotte Street, Landport, Portsmouth. She was wearing one red sandal and the other was found a few feet away. This photograph was issued by the Portsmouth CID today (Sunday) in an endeavour to establish beyond doubt the identity of the woman. Anyone indentifying her is asked to communicate with the Chief Constable, Porstmouth City Police, Telephone Portsmouth 74611. The dead woman is believed to have been living in Portsmouth for six weeks and is understood to have spoken of relatives in Newcastle on Tyne.. 10 August 1947
