Anglo Egyptian treaty stamps give lie to 'Duress' charge. Interesting evidence of the plane, given by Egypt to the signing of the Anglo Egyptian treaty of 1936, is disclosed with the publication today by the Foreign Office of a series of commemorative stamps issued by the Egyptian Government to Mark the treaty signing. The stamps show, the British and Egyptian delegation is to the Alliance. Seated around the conference table. Among the Egyptian represents is shown is the present Premier Nokrashy Pasha, now conducting his countries case against Britain before the UNO Security Council. In evidence yesterday, he suggested that the treaty was signed under duress and against the wishes of representative Egyptian politicians. The stamps, together with extracts from leading Egyptian newspapers of the day (e.g. 'it was one of the most glorious and memorable days in Egypt's history' - Al Ahram) are considered by Whitehall to give ample refutation to the allegations. Photo shows, the 15 mill Anglo Egyptian Treaty commemorative stamp, one of the series, published by the Foreign Office today (Wednesday). Other prominent Egyptians depicted are Ismail Sidkey Pasha, with whom negotiations to revise the present Treaty broke down last January, and Nahas Pasha, leader of theWafd opposition. 6 August 1947
