Builder of Britain. Nobody can blame the acute shortage of building materials on Lizzie Pool, of Moor Lane, Beierley Hill, Staffordshire. For 30 years she has been moulding bricks by hand, and is at present turning out a daily six hundred 14 lb firebricks, using 4 t of clay in the process. It's a job that's neither light, nor clean, and in the picture Lizzie says, well wrapped up in her work. Humbly she sets an example to fellow Britons on the path to recovery through hard work. 6 August 1947
