The opening of the London music festival at Harringay arena, Britain's biggest Hall, last night, drew only 4000 people leaving more than half the seats empty. In this fast all, which usually a close to the cheers of thousands of sporting fans, Sir Thomas Beauchamp, conducting the Royal Philemon orchestra, started the festival off in fine style with the "William Tell" overture. Also taking part were Soloman, world famous pianist, who played Beethoven's 3rd piano Concerto, and silveri whose fine baritone voice echoed through the hall. 7 June 1947
