Tests are going on at Alexandra Palace, London, to find the successor to television's popular announcer, 21-year-old Miss Gillian Webb, who is leaving the BBC to get married. A number of astronauts the coveted position, nearly 400 have written to the studios the tests, were submitted to the ordeal by camera this afternoon. More are to be tested next week, and a decision may not be made before at least some of the girls have had a probationary spell of announcing, so viewers may get a chance to judge.
