Rabbit catcher at the Commons. Bob Rogers, Rabbit catcher, of Wolborough Barton Farm, near Newton Abbot, Devon, had a distinguished audience today (Thursday), when, in a Committee Room of the House of Commons, he demonstrated the results of his 14 years experience as humane trapping expert of the RSPCA. His demonstration, which included half a dozen different types of traps and snares used to kill rabbits, was watched by MPs of all parties who have received hundreds of letters protesting against the provision in the Agricultural Bill authorising the use of the old steel gin traps, which often maimed, but do not kill the animal. The RSPCA hopes that the demonstration to MPs by the expert may bring about an amendment to the Bill, whereby the steel traps will be banned from use. Photo shows, Mr Bob Rogers, armed with rabbits and snares for his demonstration, is stopped by the policeman on arrival at the House today. 6 March 1947
