Important discussions concerning the future of India opened in London soon after their arrival by air from India of the four political leaders, accompanied by the Viceroy, Lord Wavell. To number 10 Downing Street to confer privately with the Prime Minister went Pandit Nehru - Congress leader and Vice President of the Indian Interim Government, while Mr Jinnah, the Moslem leader, went to the India office for a private conversation there.
