In a 75 mph chase along the Thames River Bank today near Barnes Bridge, a car containing four men crashed through the railings and plunged into the Thames after shooting over a parapet. Two men were rescued by pursuing police as they tried to swim to the Surrey bank. Another couple of Police helped two passengers in the water logged car to scramble clear, the chase started when a police car heard by wireless that a car was reported missing from a parking place in Savoy Street, Strand. Later four men went with police officers to Chiswick police station for questioning. Two were later transferred to the West of Middlesex hospital for treatment. Photo shows, the four policemen who plunged into the river.
