Acting Lt Commander Edward Bell faced a Portsmouth court martial accused of stealing a quantity of stores recovered from naval dumps in Germany. It was alleged that he went to Germany on war weapon investigation and that he subsequently attempted to dispose of the stores including 229 binoculars.
