Blood streams down the faces of injured men, and a woman, coat blood-splattered, holds a hand to a bruised eye after the riot staged in Paris as protest against the presence of a German officer at the conference on the Pleven plan for a European army. About 550 people were arrested in the demonstrations - forbidden by the Government - around the Place de l'Opera. More that 7,000 police and Mobile Guards were on duty.
