Sir Oswald Mosley was knocked to the ground and punched and hit by stones and fruit thrown during a march and public meeting held by his Union Movement in Manchester . Forty seven people were arrested . Sir Oswald said he was satisfied that ' communist organised agitators ' had been unable to supress free speech . He planned another meeting the following day in East London . " I punched as many red heads as got at me " he said . 30 July 1962
