Part of the exterior of the beautiful ancient Al Aqsa mosque , Jerusalem with the ground strewn with water hoses , following a fire that swept the 500-year-old roof of the mosque here on 21st August 1969 . The mosque , after Mecca and Medina , is the third most sacred centre in Islam . It is built on the site where the Caliph Omar prayed after capturing Jerusalem in 636 .
