Doomed flight Las Vegas , Nevada : A rocket speeds away from it's perch under the wing of the North American F-100 Super Sabre over the Indian Springs Gunnery Range during the U.S Air Foces Tactical Fighter Weapons Meet at Nellis Air Force Base near here. The flight of the rocket was brief, because the Sidewinder guided missle (an infra-red seeking type) that is seen nestling under the right wing of the plane, was fired an instant later. The Sidewinder locked onto the rocket's heat trail, overtook it and then destroyed it. November 6 1958
