The Tiny Tot Grand Prix The atmosphere, the tension, the victory salute - with a pretty girl in the background of course - and the tears - were all there for this tiny tots grand prix. Their course; 75 yards of the famous Crystal Palace racing circuit, where only last week people like Jim Clark hurtled round. Pedal powered, these dinky sized racing cars were not so fast - 15 mph top speed - but the drivers of tomorrow were every bit as intent on winning. Before the start of the race the pits were packed with junior technicians giving the cars, lent by Birmingham City Police, final checks. Then came the big moment. Pedals poised, wheels oiled, they sped from the grid. Their parents, taking part in the RAC "L" Driver of the Year competition, forgotten, they raced for the chequered flag.
