Mr Herbert Morrison, Lord President of the Council and Mr Alfred Barnes, Minister of Transport are attending the inauguration of the new double decker train service - the two deck trains are designed to beat the congestion on the lines to Dartford. Each eight coach train carries 1,016 passengers - an increase of 176. The train moved out over the Bexleyheath Line of the Southern Region approaching Waterloo Junction as it comes from Charing Cross on its inaugural run. November 1st 1949
