So great a correspondence comes to Santa Claus every year that the GPO has set up a special department to deal with it. Letters and postcards addressed to Father Xmas in Greenland, Santa Claus at The North Pole, and other suitably northern labels arrive at the sorting department at St Martins la Grand in London. Letters addressed to places which actually exist, such as Greenland, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, etc, are sent on to their destinations. Photo shows Dear Santa. Father Xmas's mail (and some for his reindeer) is sorted at the GPO in London - 14th December 1949
