Some twelve thousand cotton workers are staging a mass demonstration in London today, Wednesday 27th June 1962, in protest against the use of cheap foreign cloth and yarn imports. With the demonstrators are mill owners, managers, trade union officials and mayors from the Lancashire cotton towns. The demonstration has been planned just twenty four hours before the Commons debate on cotton which takes place tomorrow (Thursday). Leaders of the demonstration organised by the Textile Action Group will be remaining in London to lobby MPs before tomorrow's debate. Photograph shows a procession of the protest marchers from the Lancashire cotton towns headed by a brass band making their way along Oxford Street, London today, Wednesday.
