Washington, D.C. USA: The U.S.S. Turner Joy (DD-951), shown in file photo, has been sent bythe U.S. Navy to accompany the U.S.S. Maddox (DD-731), which was the victim of an "Unprovoked attack" in international waters of Viet Nam on August 2nd, in the Tonkin Gulf it was announced on August 3rd. The aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Ticonderoga began providing continuous air cover for the ships. President Johnson announced at the White House, that from now on the rule would be not only to drive off attackers byt to destroy them. 5 August 1964
