The famous Minchenden Oak in Middlesex, mentioned in the Domesday Book, is said to be the biggest and widest spreading oak in England. The girth at ground level is 27ft 6ins and the branches spread for about 150ft. Efforts are being made by the Southgate Council to save it from the hands of the builders. 27 January 1930
