Nannies and their charges on the banks of the Medway at Rochester, September 1937. The flying boat was one of the Empire Class, 'Cambria'. These aircraft flew the luxury overseas routes of Imperial Airways and were the forerunners of the Sunderland Flying Boats. The Short Bros. Aircraft Works were based at this spot from 1913 until they were moved to Belfast in 1947, having suffered heavily from War damage.
