Japanese launch great air attack on Hangkow, population dives to safety. The entire population of Hankow, new seat of the Chinese Government, dived into underground shelters when 40 Japanese planes bombed the aerodrome, turning it into a shambles. Lewis gun crews aboard the British gunboats anchored in the river stood ready for action should they be fired on. 75 bombs dropped on the aerodrome.
