Britain's most luxurious air raid shelter has been built "somewhere in Surrey". The shelter has three rooms, kitchenette, a shower and foot bath for decontamination purposes. The whole shelter, which methods 50' x 10' 6" x 8' 6 inches high, is encased in a shell of reinforced concrete, while the interior walls are faced with cement bricks. The reinforced concrete roof is no less then 2 1/2 feet thick. The shelter is equipped with electric light; if that should failed there is gas; if that fails there is a supply of oil lamps. There is bedroom accommodation in which 12 persons can be as comfortable as in their own homes, and there is a space in the cupboard for at least a week's supply of nonperishable food stuff.
