Lieutenant Colonel Frank Harris , who is 70 years old , is walking the thirty miles from his home in Southborough , Kent to London Bridge , a distance of 30 miles on his seventieth birthday . The walk is being carried out in accordance with a vow made by the Colonel forty four years ago when his father made the same walk on his seventieth birthday .
