Picture by Roger Bamber:18 October 2002: Environmental Scientist Liz Wood (24) introduces one of 60 Common Lizards (Lacerta Vivipara) to heather on its new heathland home at Southern Waters Powdermill Reservoir Wood, near Hastings, East Sussex. The reptiles have been made homeless by the building of a new housing development and are being re-homed in four hectares of re-established heath restored as a natural habitat by Southern Water. They will be joined by another 500 next year.
