Ye Olde Inn at Gulval, near Penzance, has now become "the Coldstream" following its handing over to the Coldstream Guards Association. The Inn was owned by Captain Michael Bolitho, a Coldstream Guards Officer who was killed in action at Oran. His family, knowing his love for the regiment, decided to give a rent-free 99 year lease to the association, providing the licensee is always a worthy ex-Guardsman. Profits will be given to regimental charities. The new landlord is George Treadwell 47, formerly CQ and S, and 22 years at Guardsman. Picture shows: Sir John Carew Pole (extreme right) and Mr William Bolitho(dark coat) toast the new landlord of the Coldstream. Mr William Bolitho handed over the public house in behalf of his family and in memory of his brother. 23 April 1947
