From a little inn in the quaint Essex village of Bardfield, old craftsmen and typical local characters are to broadcast to America an impression of English country life as it has been for centuries. In the taproom of the " Spread Eagle" the local wart-healer, "Uppy", two professional and Professor Harold Laski will speak into the microphone and "mine host", Mr Harry Barnes (left), will close the program with "Last Orders" and "Time, gentleman, please". "Uppy" (Charles Shephard Andrews) the local "wart-healer". He can cure warts within a few weeks without even seeing his patient. The host Mr Harry Barnes serving drinks to "Uppy" (seated) and Moses Drain a thatcher. 16 July 1937.
