Otranto; Italy; ossuary chapel in cathedral. An apse chapel to the right of the high altar; it is decorated with the remains of local who died when the town was sacked by a Turkish fleet in 1480. There are approximately 900 skulls present in glass cases. The remains are a patriotic memorial; and were canonized en masse by Pope Clement XIV. Photo 2010.
