Quito; Ecuador; skeleton under the church of the monastery of San Francisco. The city's Franciscan monastery dates to the 16th century; and apparently at one time housed many burials and areas for charneled bones under its church. The area under the church is an active archeological site. This skeleton was placed under the church in a coffin; but many others were not; and are found as loose bones in the ground. Photo 2010.
