Flame scallop shell. Two parts of the shell of a flame scallop or rough fileclam (Ctenoides scaber), a species of saltwater clam, family Limidae. Flame scallops have a rough outer shell and a red mantle (dorsal body wall). They are found in the Caribbean Sea. Shells of bivalves such as clams consist of two articulating parts, or valves.
