Flame scallop shell. Interior of the shell of a flame scallop or rough fileclam (Ctenoides scaber), a species of saltwater clam, family Limidae, and not a true scallop. Shells of bivalve molluscs such as clams consist of two articulating parts, or valves. Flame scallops have a rough outer shell and a red mantle (dorsal body wall).
