1759 El Jorullo eruption. 1875 illustration of the eruption of the El Jorullo volcano, Michoacan, Mexico, in 1759. El Jorullo is a cinder cone volcano and one of only two known volcanoes to have developed in Mexico in recent history. It formed and began erupting on 29th September 1759 and continued to erupt for 15 years until ending in 1774.
