SuperMUC supercomputer. This is the world's first commercially available hot-water cooled supercomputer. It is located at the Leibniz Supercomputing Center (LRZ), in Garching near Munich, Germany. It was developed in collaboration with IBM, using its System x iDataPlex Direct Water Cooled (dx360 M4) servers. More than 150,000 cores provide a peak performance of up to three petaflops. The water-cooling technology allows the system to be more compact while consuming less energy than an air-cooled machine. Photographed in May 2012.
