Rocking bathtub patent, 1900. Artwork of a rocking bath tub designed by Otto A. Hensel. The bath tub was designed to rock forwards and backwards (dotted lines) and cause water to splash against the bather. A top cover prevented water from escaping the bath. Victorian era water therapy, known as hydrotherapy, was a popular form of treatment that claimed to cure a large variety of ailments.
