Conceptual model aeroplane made up from a metal construction kit usually referred to as Meccano although other brands produced similar kits. Meccano was created in Liverpool, UK by Frank Hornby in 1901. It consists of re-usable metal strips, plates, angle girders, wheels, axles and gears, with nuts and bolts to connect the pieces. It enables the building of working models for both adults and children, and mechanical devices used today by scientists building test apparatus.
