Lord Byron (1788-1824). 1874 illustration of the English poet George Gordon Byron. Byron is regarded as one of the greatest British poets and was a leading figure in the Romantic movement. His best-known works include the narrative poems Don Juan and Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, and the short lyric 'She Walks in Beauty'.
