Alpine ibex (Capra ibex). This wild goat is an exceptional climber, living on steep rock faces above the snow-line in the European Alps. It is also known as the steinbock. Both sexes have horns, those of the females being shorter than those of the male. It eats grass and other low plants. Photographed in May, in Gran Paradiso National Park in the Italian Alps.
