World time zones, 2011. World map showing the standard time zones used worldwide, and their offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), formerly Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Numbers and colour-coding indicate the time zones. Examples are Chad (central Africa) in time zone UTC+1, Moscow at UTC+3, China at UTC+8, and New York at UTC-5. Some areas have fractional time zones (India, UTC+5.5; central Australia, UTC+9.5; Venezuela, UTC-4.5). The International Date Line (far right, western Pacific) marks where a full day is lost or gained when passing east or west. This map was published by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
