This was built in London, UK, between Waterloo and Bank in the City of London. It was the second electric tube railway to open in London. Construction started in June 1894 and advanced through the heavy clay at 3 metres a day. The tunnels are 3.7 metres in diameter, covering a distance of 2.37 kilometres. Trains began running in August 1898. Artwork published in the British weekly illustrated newspaper 'The Graphic' on 16 November 1895.
