Brain haemorrhage in alcoholism. Computed tomography (CT) scan of a section through the brain of a 55-year-old patient with a subdural haematoma (bright, left and right) following chronic alcohol abuse. A haematoma is a localised collection of blood outside of the blood vessels. Subdural haematomas are a form of haematoma where blood collects between the brain and the dura mater - the outermost of the three meninges membranes that surround the brain. They are usually associated with traumatic brain injury.
