Polar bear (Ursus maritimus) mother and cubs. This bear, the world's largest land predator, is found throughout the Arctic circumpolar regions, although its range is limited by the extent of the pack ice. The cubs will stay with their mother for between a year and a half and two and a half years. These cubs were born during the winter in a snow-covered den from which they have recently emerged. Photographed in March in Wapusk National Park, Manitoba, Canada.
