RPE65 retinal pigment protein. Molecular model of retinal pigment epithelium-specific 65 kDa protein (RPE65). This protein is key to the sense of vision. It is located in the retinal pigment epithelium and is involved in the conversion of retinol to retinal during phototransduction. This is part of the process of visual pigment regeneration in photoreceptor cells.
