Spinal curvature. Coloured frontal X-ray of the torso of an 85-year-old female patient with severe spinal curvature (kyphoscoliosis) due to osteoporosis (brittle bone disease) affecting the vertebral bones. Kyphoscoliosis is a combination of kyphosis and scoliosis and is therefore a curvature of the spine in both a coronal and sagittal plane. Here, the curvature is so extreme that the patient's head (top left) is bent so far forwards it is visible in the X-ray.
